Carl Hans Miller

Carl Hans Miller was born in Germany, April 6, 1922. He passed away in Albany, Ore., March 24, 2017, 13 days before his 95th birthday.<br>
Carl was brought to America from Germany by his parents, August and Margarette Mueller, the name was changed to Miller during the immigration.<br>
After high school, Carl left the family farm in North Dakota to join the Civilian Conservation Corps camps. Later he was drafted into the Army. While in the Army, he served as an interrogator of German prisoners of war, held at different locations in the United States, during World War II. Carl was fluent with the German language.<br>
After the military, Carl farmed in South Dakota, then moved to Tioga, N.D., in 1953 to work in the oil fields. In 1963 Carl moved his family to Tygh Valley, Ore., to work in the Tygh Valley saw mill. In 1983, he sold his place in Tygh Valley and moved to Hawaii, built a house and worked as an armed guard for a generation plant. In 1993, he sold out and moved to Albany to work as an armored truck guard.
Carl leaves behind his children: Lyle, Paul, Loretta, Carla, Ramona and Gladys; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
