MORO – The Sherman defense forced 30 turnovers, held Condon-Wheeler to just four second-half field goals and erased a 23-20 halftime deficit with a 26-12 flurry in the final 16 minutes to pull off a 46-35 comeback victory Friday in a Big Sky Conference girls’ basketball contest played in Moro.

Olson, Bailey lead SWC boys

South Wasco County’s Garrett Olson is usually good for 25-30 points on any given night. The key is getting another player to shoulder some of the scoring load. Olson finished with 22 points, and Kal Bailey busted loose for a career-high 17 points, 11 in the second half, in the Redsides’ 50-39 win over Mitchell-Spray Friday in Mitchell.

Booster Club gives back to TD softball

The Riverhawk Booster Club board approved $2,370 for 40 player backpack/bat bags, and $1,400 for 40 warm-up jackets with embroidery. Both the backpack/bat bags and the warm-up jackets will be property of the Riverhawk athletic department softball program to be used from season-to-season.

No. 15 TD rallies for a 51-46 win

Dakota Murr scored 12 of his team-high 20 points in the fourth quarter, and The Dalles boys’ basketball squad rallied from a 40-35 deficit with a 16-6 run in the final eight minutes to secure a 51-46 road victory over 4A Crook County on Wednesday.

At one point in the season, The Dalles went through a six-game losing streak. After Wednesday’s lopsided 64-19 victory over 4A Crook County at Kurtz Gym, the Lady Riverhawks have won two out of their last three games and appear to be gaining some steam at the midway point of the season.

MAUPIN – South Wasco County head coach Lynn Cowdrey wants his team to have a long memory when it comes to the buzzsaw part of their schedule played earlier this season. Those games against Country Christian, Nixyaawii, Griswold and Echo were a just precursor to the nightly league slugfests. Nine Redside players hit the scoresheet and the defense forced Sherman into 21 turnovers and three second-half field goals in a 52-24 Big Sky Conference girls’ basketball romp Tuesday from South Wasco County High School.
